Before You Start
- A free USB-A port on your computer (or a powered USB hub — avoid unpowered pass-through hubs, which can cause dropouts).
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 kept reasonably up to date via Windows Update.
- A stable, unobstructed spot to clip or mount the camera.
Step-by-Step Setup
-
Position the camera
Open the spring clip and attach it to the top of your laptop screen or monitor, centered and facing forward. For a desk or shelf position, use the threaded socket on the base with a standard tripod or small stand.
-
Connect the USB cable
Plug the camera's USB cable directly into a USB port on your computer. Plugging it straight into the machine (rather than through an unpowered hub) gives the most reliable connection.
-
Let Windows detect it automatically
Within a few seconds you should see a brief notification such as "Setting up a device" followed by a confirmation that it's ready. No manual driver file needs to be downloaded or run for this step.
-
Confirm it's recognized
Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Cameras (or Device Manager > Cameras / Imaging devices on older builds) and check that "HD Pro Webcam C920" is listed without a warning icon.
-
Test the picture and audio
Open the built-in Windows Camera app, select the C920 if more than one camera is listed, and confirm you see a live picture. Speak normally to confirm the microphone level responds.
-
Select it inside your call or recording application
In Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, OBS, or similar, open that application's audio/video settings and choose "HD Pro Webcam C920" as the camera and microphone source.
-
Optional: fine-tune with Logitech's companion app
For adjustments beyond Windows' defaults — such as pan/tilt/zoom cropping, exposure, or RightLight behavior — Logitech offers an optional camera settings companion app on its official site, linked below. This step is optional; the camera functions without it.
Optional Companion App
Logitech's camera settings companion app is distributed only through Logitech's own site. Visit their official page to review current system requirements and obtain it directly from the manufacturer.
